How much protein do we require for our body?

  • According to the Indian Council of Medical Research- National Institute of Nutrition, the recommended dietary allowance for protein intake for an average Indian adult is 0.83g protein/kg/day for healthy men and women.
  • International Society of Sports Nutrition suggests 1.4 to 2 g protein per kg body weight per day.
  • Protein requirements vary with age, physiological status, health and stress level.
